Video: VeriSign's Global DNS Infrastructure
Scott Courtney from VeriSign describes how VeriSign has scaled its DNS infrastructure for scalability and resiliency.
February 13, 2008
VeriSign (VRSN) announced Monday that it was enhancing its DNS infrastructure to add support for IPv6 and improve the system's scalability. The company also said it had expanded its infrastructure to India.
Today's video today is from last year's Google's Seattle Conference on Scalability, and takes a look at VeriSign's global network of nameservers for the .com and .net domains. These servers handle 500,000 DNS queries per second during their daily peak, and up to 10 times more than that during attacks. The presenter is Scott Courtney, a principal architect in VeriSign's Architecture and Technology Services. Note: This is a longer video, running 53 minutes.
