Behringer Harvard has acquired an 87,000 square foot data center in Arlington, Texas, paying $18 million to buy the building from owner ECBD Bowen Road Ltd. The property at 5000 S. Bowen Road in the Dallas market is fully leased to French IT services firm Atos Origins, which has leased the property through 2013 and made several upgrades to the building's mechanical, electrical and infrastructure systems.
Behringer Harvard said the 69-acre property offered options for development at the site, which could include data centers or other uses. "The significant acreage expands our options with the property for development into either residential or neighborhood commercial use," Robert M. Behringer, founder and CEO of Behringer Harvard, told CoStar.
The deal took place in early May, at about the same time that Behringer Harvard was acquiring the Santa Clara Tech Center, a three-building technology campus that includes a building slated for conversion into a data center. Behringer Harvard is an integrated commercial real estate company based in Dallas.
