Hewlett Packard announced that their Enterprise Services division has signed a services deal with the U.S. Department of the Navy that could be worth more than $3 billion.
The Continuity of Services Contract contract will provide transition services for the Navy, going from Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) to the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN), while minimizing possible risks to the Navy's IT operations and security.
“With the NMCI contract ending on Sept. 30, 2010, the Navy and HP have signed the CoSC to continue many of the IT services while enabling the Navy and Marine Corps to transition services to NGEN," said Dennis Stolkey, senior vice president, U.S. Public Sector, HP Enterprise Services.
As the U.S. government's largest IT managed services contract, the NMCI supports more than 363,000 computers and over 700,000 sailors, Marines and civilians world wide. HP Enterprise Services leads a team of more than 200 companies that operate all aspects of NMCI and maintains the performance and security of this highly-integrated IT environment. The new NGEN agreement continues that relationship between HP and the Navy.
