Data center specialist CoreSite has leased a large chunk of space in northern Virginia to "one of the world’s largest IT service providers," the company said today. The client will occupy 10,000 square feet of space at CoreSite’s data center in Reston.
The deal continues the brisk activity in the northern Virginia data center market. The last month has seen data center acquisitions by Qwest and Latisys and a large lease for Horizon Data Centers.
The new tenant will occupy space that became available through CoreSite's recent 6 megawatt expansion of the Northern Virginia data center. The private data center space features water-side economization, variable speed fans in its air conditioning units, and high-efficiency UPS units, CoreSite said.
“CoreSite provided a move-in ready data center product that met the specifications of our client,” said Curt Holcomb of Jones Lang LaSalle, who represented the client along with colleague Jeff Groh. “On behalf of our clients, we are always looking for quality data center space with significant power, connectivity and security in a facility operated by a well known and proven data center provider. The CoreSite facility and operating team exceeded all of our requirements.”
"The size of this customer deployment is an excellent example of CoreSite’s unique ability to deliver premier wholesale data center space as well as cage-to-cabinet colocation services,” said David Dunn, CoreSite senior vice president of marketing and business development.
