Here’s a roundup of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:

Nasuni secures $15 million. Cloud storage gateway vendor Nasuni announced that it has closed $15 million in Series B funding led by Flybridge Capital partners with participation from existing investors, North Bridge Venture Partners and Sigma Partners.  “We spent the last year building a loyal customer base and that proved invaluable during the fundraising,” said Nasuni CEO Andres Rodriguez. “We are now working with partners to leverage our sales capability."  On the Nasuni blog the results of a customer poll shows how the Nasuni Filer is being used: as a file server replacement, a remote office file solution, archiving finished project data, offsite backups in the cloud, and backing up client data.

HP selected by SHI International. HP announced that SHI International has selected HP Networking solutions as the network infrastructure for its new Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Cloud Center.  SHI is a $3 billion global provider of hardware and software services, whose previous environment was complex and difficult to manage. “The IaaS Cloud Service initiative will be the source of significant growth and differentiation for our company,” said Henry Fastert, chief technologist, SHI. “After testing several solutions, we found that HP’s technology delivered the features and flexibility we needed to drive a dynamic business, along with the competitive price advantage that we needed to support our expansion plans.” The new offering by SHI will focus on the creation of “industrial-grade” virtual machines for applications, disaster recovery, outsourced IT solutions, or 'burst' computing services for businesses of all sizes.
