SoftLayer Technologies reached $85 million in revenue while achieving $34 million in EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) in the third quarter of 2011, the IT infrastructure provider said Thursday. That's an improvement from $83 million in revenue in the second quarter of 2011, and $78 million in the first quarter.
The company has also appointed David Strohm of Greylock Partners to its board of directors to help guide and support the company’s continued financial growth in the coming quarter.
"SoftLayer is headed on a pretty impressive trajectory but we’re really just beginning to accelerate our efforts," said Lance Crosby, chief executive officer for SoftLayer. "The addition of David to our leadership team benefits us immensely, especially as it relates to managing growth and rapidly expanding into international markets. Our focus hasn’t changed. We’ll continue innovating and making our platform the standard for Internet savvy businesses looking for unique cloud, dedicated, and managed hosting solutions.”
Besides its growing revenue, Softlayer also saw global expansions into both Asia-Pacific (via Singapore) and Europe (via Amsterdam).
“Our growth is fueled by increased customer demand for our entire portfolio of hosting solutions,” said George Karidis, chief strategy officer for SoftLayer. “Our approach resonates with customers because we offer an à la carte menu of service and options resulting in greater flexibility and control over IT resources while reducing operating costs. With our new data centers in Singapore and Amsterdam, we’ll be able to drive even more international revenue and sales.”
