Citing strong demand for its data services for legal professionals, Thomson Reuters has leased data center space near Minneapolis from XO Communications, the companies said today. The facility will be the fourth data center for the company’s operations in Eagan, Minn. the headquarters for Thomson Reuters Legal and will support Thomson Reuters businesses worldwide.
"Our new data center will allow us to better serve our customers and to accommodate the growth we are seeing globally in our businesses," said Rick King, chief technology officer of the Thomson Reuters Professional division. "New initiatives such as WestlawNext, our groundbreaking next-generation legal research service, along with global expansion of the Westlaw franchise, are fueling increased demand for our online services from businesses and professionals around the world."
Thomson Reuters will operate and staff the facility with its equipment and personnel. The new data center is expected to be operational in fall 2010.
“XO Communications is an excellent provider of dedicated, highly secure, state-of-the-art facility space,” said King. “Our agreement with XO provides us with tremendous flexibility in accommodating future growth and adapting to changing customer demand and market conditions worldwide. In addition, it allows us to bring our new data center online in a very rapid timeframe.”
