The data center industry in Brazil has been growing as the country scales up its infrastructure to host the World Cup and the Olympics. Now there's a local provider offering a modular data center solution.

SmartCube recently announced the general availability of the SmartCube 4025 modular data center with redundant, scalable power and cooling systems. Privately held SmartCube is owned by Accelerator Technology Holdings Limited. This  past summer it aunveiled the SmartCube container, which is being built at its production site in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"Brazil, the world’s fifth largest economy, now has access to locally produced and serviced, high power density, energy efficient containerized data center solutions," said Tom Oberlin, President of SmartCube , who has prior data center  experience at OptiGlobe, Savvis and Cubecorp. Oberlin said SmartCube offers "reduced data center capital investment and faster data center setup time, ideal for Brazil’s rapidly expanding IT infrastructure demands.”

SmartCube 4025

The new SmartCube 4025 is a 12 meter (40 foot) module with the ability to support up to 25 kW per 42u rack, with a capacity ranging from 4 to 60 racks per modular data center. Each unit includes in-row cooling units deployed in a hot aisle/cold aisle configuration. If the IT load is less than 25 kW per rack, the cooling system adapts to the level of heat being generated by the equipment.

"The 4025 is a breakthrough modular data center product," said Oberlin. "It has all the power, greater redundancy and a much lower price point than any other product on the market.  Now IT departments everywhere can gain the benefits of rapid deployment, low operating expense and scalability within a significantly lower budget. And, like all SmartCube Modular Data Centers, it is made in Brazil."

Formed in 2009 SmartCube has offices in Rio de Janeiro, and focuses on engineering, building and deploying modular, energy efficient, scalable data center solutions.
