Under the headline "Data Centers Boom," the Wall Street Journal highlighted the emerging shift to modular designs in data center construction Monday. This trend isn't a surprise to regular readers of Data Center Knowledge, as we've been documenting the momentum for modular deployment for several years.

But this type of coverage in the Journal can raise awareness of industry trends among a larger audience of investors, which can raise the profile of the industry and the companies focused on modular data centers. The Journal story highlighted HP, which predicted that that 50percent of all new data centers will be built modularly by 2013.
