Here's a roundup of some of this week's news from the content delivery network (CDN) sector:
Level 3 (LVLT) said its Content Markets Group has been selected by game publisher Funcom as its exclusive CDN provider for the Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures online game launch and content patching. Telecom Ramblings describes the deal as "a nice win" for Level 3, noting that Age of Conan is expected to launch with 700,000 users.
Is Verizon planning to enter the CDN market in a meaningful way? That's what Dan Rayburn says in a comment over at Telecom Ramblings (which was noticed by Paolo).
Technicolor has decided to partner with content delivery provider Highwinds Network Group, adding live and on-demand streaming to its delivery services (seen on Contentinople). Technicolor, which is owned by conglomerate Thomson (TMS), purchased SyncCast last year to bolster its solution set, adding content delivery to its suite of services.
