Here’s our review of today’s noteworthy links for the data center industry:
Six Degrees Achieves ISO27001. Six Degrees Group announced that it has achieved ISO27001 Information Security Management Certification. This international certification assures that Six Degrees Group's core data center platforms, billing, data management, fulfilment and support meet the standards for information security. “The top three concerns customers have with hosting services are privacy, security and sovereignty," said Alastair Mills, CEO of Six Degrees Group. "This achievement will help to allay these concerns. Our customers know that the integrity of their data is our top priority. Consequently, we only deploy secure private cloud services with their data housed in UK-based data centres that are ISO27001 certified.”
DDN Debuts DirectMon. DataDirect Networks (DDN) unveiled DirectMon, a robust centralized management solution for DDN's award winning storage, file system, and in-storage processing technology. DirectMon minimizes administrator overhead and provides a comprehensive framework for both real-time and predictive systems management and tuning of SAN, NAS and parallel file storage environments. It is available immediately for DDN's SFA platforms, including the 6620, 10K and 12K series, and will support DDN's Gridscaler file system and IBM GPFS environments. "Around the world, we are seeing an extraordinary amount of investment being made to store, manage, and process the massive data sets of the Big Data era," said Jeff Boles, Senior Analyst and Director of Validation Services, Taneja Group. "DDN was one of the first vendors to realize that Big Data is equal parts management and storage. Our research shows that Big Data customers are consistently challenged with data management as their Big Data initiatives grow. DirectMon will undoubtedly be a key tool for Big Data customers as they face inevitable future growth, and this goes hand-in-hand with DDN's company DNA: DDN storage systems have long enabled new customers to enter into Big Data initiatives when they wouldn't have been able to otherwise for reasons of storage complexity."
Latisys selected by National Safety Council. Latisys announced a managed IT infrastructure services agreement with the National Safety Council. Latisys will provide the National Safety Council with a fully managed solution via Latisys’ Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform. Hosted in Chicago, it provides virtualized compute, storage, load balancing, security, and back up, with blended IP for their MPLS network. “To further advance the NSC mission of saving lives and preventing injuries, we recognized the opportunity to significantly reduce capital expenditure, expand our bandwidth and improve performance by outsourcing our IT infrastructure to a predictable, managed hosting model,” said Linda Swift, Chief Information Officer for the National Safety Council. “Latisys worked closely with us to design a flexible and scalable solution optimized to our needs, particularly for managing compute resources and virtualizing our new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.”
