Verizon Wireless will build a new data center on nine acres in the Lubbock Business Park in Lubbock, Texas under terms of an agreement with the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, according to local media. The 30,000 square foot facility is still in the design stage, but will be part of a $30 million capital investment in Lubbock by Verizon Wireless, according to said Lee Maschmann, executive director for networks in Verizon's Central Texas region.
Construction will begin by the end of the year, Maschmann said at a news conference Monday afternoon. The facility will provide data and switching services for Verizon Wireless' voice and 3G service across most of West Texas.
