In another sign of continuing demand for data centers in northern Virginia, Digital Realty Trust disclosed today that it bought a 110,000 square foot property in Manassas, Virginia and immediately leased the entire facility to a "leading IT enterprise company."
Digitial Realty Trust (DLR) announced the deal in its quarterly earnings release this morning. On Nov. 20, the company acquired 7505 Mason King Court in Manassas for $10.6 million. The building was previously occupied by homebuilder Pulte Home. Digital Realty said the property was leased immediately after closing and occupied on Jan. 1, suggesting the IT tenant will be building out its own infrastructure.
Digital Realty Trustalso said it has acquired the remaining 50 percent interest in a joint venture that owns 1500 Space Park Drive and 1201 Comstock Street in Santa Clara, Calif., paying $20.6 million. The projects were initially owned by W. Leslie Pelio & Associates, and Digital Realty bought its 50 percent interest in Sept. 2007. Both buildings are 100 percent leased.
