Here’s a roundup of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:

VMware releases VMware View 4.5.  VMware (VMW) announced the general availability of VMware View 4.5, the first enterprise-class desktop virtualization solution that delivers rich virtual desktop experiences to end users online or offline.  "VMware View 4.5 provides the best of both worlds – end user mobility and IT manageability. said Vittorio Viarengo, vice president, End User Compting Products for VMware.
"VMware View 4.5 dramatically expands the number of use cases for virtual desktop technology by offering the first offline solution in the market – allowing users to check out their virtual desktop from the data center and take it on the road with them. Version 4.5 features the first integrated offline virtual desktop solution where a virtual desktop can be accessed even while disconnected from the network. It also includes expanded administrative capabilities, integrated application assignment, improved user experience and enhanced security features. The new product reduces the cost of storage by enabling customers to take advantage of multiple storage tiers. VMware View 4.5 Enterprise Edition is priced at $150 per concurrent connection and Premier Edition is priced at $250 per concurrent connection.

Nimsoft selected by Lead IT Consulting. Nimsoft, a CA Technologies Company, announced that Lead IT Consulting has deployed Nimsoft On Demand across its cloud-based services infrastructure. "Nimsoft On Demand is the only monitoring solution that provides the richness of detail and the clarity of data presentation our clients require to feel in control of their cloud environments," said Bob Deasy, Lead IT's chief strategist. Lead IT will offer insight into the health and performance of the networks and applications for its customers via the Nimsoft On Demand service.

Raritan unveils new Power IQ 2.0 software.
