CyrusOne Expands Dallas Data Center

Colocation provider CyrusOne has forged an agreement with Texas-New Mexico Power to add 14 megawatts of power capacity to its North Dallas data center by early 2012, increasing CyrusOne’s available power at the site to 22 MW of capacity, with further expansion capability available up to 62 MW if needed.

The additional power capacity will allow CyrusOne to expand the facility, adding 65,000 square feet of data center space to support growing demand from customers at the Dallas facility.  With the completion of this latest data hall in the first quarter of 2011, the facility will have approximately 192,000 square feet of data center space.

Focus on High-Density Environments
CyrusOne specializes in high-density colocation services, with a strong focus in the energy and financial services sector. In May the company was acquired by Cincinnati Bell for $525 million.

CyrusOne said its high-density facilities are proving attractive to companies refreshing their hardware platforms, who are experiencing challenges with cooling the latest gear in their own data centers due to a lack of power and cooling capacity. CyrusOne designs its data centers to support power densities of at least  25o watts per square foot.
