Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:
Internap selected by Five9. Internap (INAP) announced that Five9, Inc., a global provider of on-demand call center software, is utilizing Internap's data center in New York City to improve the resiliency and scalability of Five9's cloud-based call centers. Explaining why the New York facility was selected, Five9 CTO Jim Dvorkin said that "it provides high availability and geographical redundancy for our Silicon Valley data center, and the New York location is in closer proximity to Europe to facilitate our continued expansion. Internap’s network backbone provides us with resiliency and high quality connectivity for the tens of thousands of call center agents we support worldwide." The expansion supports Five9's rapid growth pace to provide reliable, geographical redundancy for its software.
IBM acquires Datacap. IBM announced the acquisition of Datacap Inc., a privately-held company based in Tarrytown, New York that provides software for capturing, managing and automating the flow of business information. The acquisition allows IBM to provide a solution to healthcare, insurance, government and finance industries for responding to HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. IBM also gains over 200 clients of Datacap software that are spread across a variety of industries. "Transforming the way organizations do business requires not only a powerful and flexible technology platform to accommodate the wide range of business requirements, challenges and goals, but also a deep understanding of the processes of the industries in which our clients operate," said Ron Ercanbrack, VP of Enterprise Content Management for IBM. "We’ve chosen to make Datacap's approach the foundation of IBM's document capture strategy. Datacap’s approach to image capture, using sophisticated business rules management, sets it above the rest in the industry and provides the most complementary capabilities for IBM." IBM plans to roll Datacap into its ECM (Enterprise Content Management) business, which is part of IBM's Software Solutions Group.
