Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:

QTS selected as colo provider for Eze Castle. Quality Technology Services announced that it was selected by Eze Castle Integration, a provider of IT services, technology and consulting to investment management firms, for colocation services.  The QTS location enables Eze Castle clients to be in close proximity to New York/New Jersey financial networks and leverage strong carrier-neutral connectivity. "Our hedge fund and investment firm clients require high-quality colocation space that is in close proximity to the New York financial district," said Bob Guilbert, managing director, Eze Castle Integration. "Our company maintains colocation space across the U.S. as well as abroad, but expansion into well-connected, carrier-neutral space in the New York market is key to our continued growth. QTS offered the best option for carrier-neutral colocation space that was nearby to major exchanges and financial networks, easily expandable and cost-effective."

Force 10 switches used by Belvedere. Force 10 Networks announced that Belvedere Trading LLC, a trading firm specializing in equity index and commodity derivatives, has selected and deployed high-performance Force 10 S-Series top-of-rack (ToR) switches as a part of a network design aimed at providing ultra-low latency, which better supports the highly transactional nature of their business. The Force 10 S4810 access switches were deployed to leverage the performance of 10 Gigabit Ethernet in strategic network edge and colocation facilities. "In current trading environments, delivering reliable and superior performance and ultra-low latency can represent the difference between being profitable and losing opportunities," said Yezdaan Baber, Director of Technology for Belvedere Trading. "Our continued investment in Force 10 switches reflects our confidence in their technology mapping seamlessly to the needs of our business."

nlyte selected by Exelon. nlyte Software announced that Exelon, a utility holding company, has implemented the nlyte DCIM suite to support its Green IT Initiatives. To meet the demands of those initiatives Exelon looked for a DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) solution that would improve provisioning time, increase visibility and tie all asset management data into one automated system. "As an energy company, it is very important for us to set an example by what we can to go green," said John Williams, Exelon Data Center Operations Lead. "nlyte gives us an efficient way to drive down data center energy consumption through the optimal placement of data center assets and will be a key factor in our ability to achieve a carbon neutral footprint and an Energy Star rating."

Nimsoft selected as monitoring tool for DataCenter Finland Oy. Nimsoft announced that DataCenter Finland Oy, an IT infrastructure service provider, has deployed the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS) across its IT infrastructure to optimize service availability and performance by monitoring application behavior from the end-user's perspective.  DataCenter Finland Oy will consolidate monitoring tools previously used into a single comprehensive NMS solution to gain insight into current health and performance trends of the services it hosts for its business clients. "NMS enables us to diligently monitor the network and system components of the service delivery chain all the way to the end-user, immediately notifying our technical staff of any potential problems so we can avert disruptions even before they impact our clients," Ilmari Vallo, CEO of DataCenter Finland Oy.
