The organizers of the annual SC Conference are actively promoting the adoption of social media to help the supercomputing community work together more effectively. They've published a Shovel Ready Social Media Strategy for the SC09 Conference, which includes the use of  Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and blog, in addition to the conference web site.

"Every year at the SCxx conferences, thousands of us get together for a week and then we go on our separate ways," the group writes. "With Social Media tools like this blog, we hope to grow the SC community in a whole new way." They clearly believe in working ahead. The SC09 conference will be held in Portland, Oregon in November.
