Colocation provider Switch and Data will almost triple its data center presence in the Chicago market, the company said this week. The expansion continues a push by Switch and Data to provide customers with increased colocation and interconnection services.
The expansion in the active Chicago market adds to previous investments the company has made to increase its presence in key markets. In January 2006, S&D expanded its New York City operations, increasing its footprint to 85,000 square feet and implementing advanced 10 Gigabit Ethernet and optical networking capabilities. In June of this year, Switch and Data completed a major expansion of its Palo Alto data center, one of the densest Internet exchanges in the world, and added additional 10 Gigabit Ethernet capacity to its PAIX services.
Switch and Data is a leading provider of Internet exchange and collocation services. Based in Tampa, Florida, Switch and Data operates the largest footprint of neutral Internet exchange and collocation facilities in North America with 34 data centers in 23 markets serving more than 800 customers. Switch and Data's PAIX provides peering and Internet exchange services.
