The Uptime Institute Symposium 2010 will be held May 17-19 at the Hilton New York in Manhattan. I was just checking out the schedule for this year's event, and was impressed with the range of subjects and panelists. There's going to be a lot of expertise in one place at this event. Here's a sampling of some panels and presentations:
Power-Related Advantages of Cloud Computing: Presentation by Jonathan Koomey of Stanford.
Eco-Efficiency: Driving Change Across Technical and Cultural Divides: Panel with Jim Smith of Digital Realty, Anthony Wanger of i/o Data Centers, Laurelee Martin from Jones Lang LaSalle and Pitt Turner from the Uptime Institute.
Microsoft's Data Centers and Beyond: Insights from Christian Belady of Microsoft Research.
Secrets to Achieving Extremely Efficient Data Centers: Presentation by KC Mares.
Efficiency vs Availability: An End User's Perspective: A panel featuring Ken Brill of the Uptime Institute, Lex Coors from Interxion, Dave Rotheroe of HP, Bob Cashner from Wachovia and Tony Ulichnie from Uptime.
PUE Hype: Setting Realistic Expectations: From Victor Avelar with APC by Schneider.
Data Center Regulation: What to Know, How to Plan and the Data Center Manager's Role: A keynote by Mike Manos of Nokia.
Driving Out Inefficiencies in Cooling: A panel with Joerg Desler of Stulz-ATS, Tom Donovan of Panduit, Jason Schaefer of Tier1 Research, Dr. Bob Sullivan from Uptime, and Anthony Wanger from i/o Data Centers.
Those are just a few of the keynotes, presentations, roundtables, and panel discussions. There will also be an exhibition hall, and the annual Green Enterprise IT Awards. A new wrinkle this year is the opportunity for one-on-one consultations with analysts from The 451 Group and Tier1 Research, and experts from the Uptime Institute. Availability is limited, and based on registration date.
If you're on a budget, you can register for a free one-day pass for May 18 and May 19 that provides access to the exhibition hall, afternoon keynotes and networking receptions.
See the Uptime Symposium web site for additional details. Data Center Knowledge readers can register with the code DCK1495 for a discount.
