Huge Leasing Deals for DuPont Fabros in Virginia - Data center leasing in northern Virginia has picked up in a big way. In the month of April data center developer DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT) has signed up tenants for more than 18 megawatts of data center space at its new ACC6 data center in Ashburn, the company said today.

Digital Realty Expands Its Colocation Business - Digital Realty Trust, the world’s largest provider of wholesale data center space, is expanding its colocation business. The announcement reflects the blurring of business boundaries in the data center space, where wholesale providers and “retail” colocation companies are increasingly competing for the same tenants.

Google Confirms $300 Million Iowa Expansion - Google has confirmed that it will invest $300 million in expanding its data center operations in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Coming four years after the opening of the company’s first facility in Iowa, the expansion will bring Google’s investment in Council Bluffs to more than $900 million, and create at least 50 additional jobs.

Data Centers Delivered Enters Modular Market - Can modular data centers and custom design go together? That’s the approach taken by Data Centers Delivered, the latest entry in the fast-growing modular data center sector.
Data Centers Delivered says it will specialize in custom-built manufactured data center solutions. The company is backed by Epsilon Industries, a manufacturer of custom mechanical and electrical systems, and says it will offer a complete suite of modular solutions for IT and power infrastructure.

SingleHop Raises $27 Million From Battery Ventures - Dedicated server and cloud hosting provider SingleHop has rased $27.5 million in financing from Battery Ventures, marking the Chicago company’s first institutional financing.
