Google Slashes Cloud Pricing, Adds Slew of Features - The 800 pound Gorilla of cloud computing has awoken. Google today demonstrated some cool new developer-friendly features and announced major price drops for its Google Cloud Platform services.
Amazon Unveils AWS Price Cuts, Launches Desktop WorkSpaces - A day after a shot across the bow from Google, it was Amazon’s chance to unveil new features and pricing in the cloud wars. At the AWS Summit in San Francisco, Amazon announced new Instance families and the general availability of its virtual desktop offering, Amazon WorkSpaces. And price cuts.
Cisco Joins Cloud Race, Pledges $1 Billion for Data Centers - Networking giant Cisco Systems is the latest tech titan to enter cloud in a big way, pledging to spend $1 billion over the next two years. The company will use that money to build up its data center infrastructure, which will run the new Cisco Cloud Services.
CenturyLink to Add 20 Megawatts of Data Center Space in 2014 - CenturyLink is planning a big year in terms of growth in its data center network, including three new data center sites. The new builds will add more than 180,000 square feet and 20 megawatts of additional space.
Latisys Expands to UK, Reveals Healthy Financials - High-touch hybrid hosting provider Latisys is expanding its platform to the UK, as well as disclosing some financials for the first time. The company has hit an annual revenue run rate of $100 million, and is financially positioned well going forward.
